Pat le français et Madjid le beur tentent de survivre dans la cité, faisant les 400 coups, vivant d'expédients. Un job est déniché, enfin, mais quand le premier est renvoyé, son ami le suit Alors ils volent une voiture et partent pour Deauville. Là, c'est Madjid que les gendarmes arrêtent, et c'est Pat qui se livre pour être avec lui.

(Two adolescent young men, Pat and Madjid, fail to find employment after leaving school and drift into a life of petty crime, stealing and pimping when the mood takes them. Both live on a run down housing estate in Paris and both dream of a better life, but neither is able to break free of their current situation.)
