sinopse
Stephen Collins (Ben Affleck), um carismático e promissor político, é visto como o futuro do partido. Todos o olham como o melhor candidato para a campanha presidencial, até que a sua assistente e amante é brutalmente assassinada e segredos enterrados começam a ser revelados. O repórter Cal McCaffrey (Russell Crowe), um velho amigo de Collins, foi destacado para investigar o caso pela sua implacável editora, Cameron (Helen Mirren). Mas assim que ele e a colega Della (Rachel McAdams) tentam descobrir a identidade do assassino, vão perceber que, quando há milhões em jogo, não há integridade, amor ou vida que esteja a salvo.
