His solo style is a unique mix of the sublime and the familiar, combining his omnivorous musical tastes with his classical, pop and jazz background. "Strange Dreams" is trademark Slater--bizarre, frank lyrics, ("I had the strangest dream last night, mob guys were pouring concrete into my bed…I don't what it means but I like it") combined with a funk backing track. Anyone sick of hearing Robbie and Nicole's version of "Something Stupid" will love Ash's (and Frances Adie) unique Wham meets Val Doonican rendition.
