Eerie horror outing set in France in the Middle Ages, where demented tyrant Field Marshal de Lancre (Paul Naschy) seeks a magical "philosopher's stone" while torturing the denizens of a small village. Shocks, savagery and atmosphere run wild in this production that's definitely not for the meek. De Lancre's secret passion is the search for the famed philosopher's stone, which, if he finds it, will give him untold wisdom and power. But, the peasants revolt, and in the battle that follows, the once barren fields of the village become well irrigated - with blood.
