#8220;Formed back in 1994, New Orlean-based Floodgate quickly earned a name for themselves drawing comparisons with Black Sabbath, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, and Metallica. The band comprises Kyle Thomas (vocals, guitars), his brother Kevin (bass), Steven Fisher (guitars) and Neil Montgomery (drums). The two Thomas brothers had already won themselves notoriety in their former groups (Kyle having written Exhorder's classic thrash album from 1990 quot;Slaughter in the Vaticanquot;). Kyle's impressive band history includes such groups as Armageddon and Raid, while his brother was a member of Acid Bath and Moon Crickets. The bitter slab of emotional hard rock delivers some dark and depressing lyrics that refer back to Kyle's memories of his earlier days suffocating in the abusive atmosphere of the Roman Catholic school he attended. The album is a thick slab of grunge/hardrock with well-crafted tracks displaying a talented and creative songwriting nature with a more mature approach than is common with many of their peers
