This classic album contains some of the most legendary tracks written by the great songwriter that John Lennon is. Tracks like 'Instant Karma!', 'Imagine' and 'Power to the People' are well known all over the world. Not just because of the great lyrics but the power and emotion these songs contain also appeal to everyone.
Other tracks on the album like 'Woman is the Nigger of the World' are less known and overlooked by the big audience. But the lyrics of this song are just tremendous, as is the musical composition. John always said things how they were, and nothing less. He truly was a rebel, an activator and an inspirator for many people.
Throughout this album one can discover the great diversity in styles John Lennon delivered during his heyday. 'Cold Turkey' is definately the hardest track on this album, it actually sounds like hardrock. On the other hand; a track like 'Mother' has a totally different vibe going on. To me, this track is very special due to personal reasons. At the end of this song he just screams away his anger, frustration and pain he felt inside. It is a beautiful emotional song. The last track I want to talk about is 'Whatever Gets You Thru The Night'. Wow! this track swings like hell, it is a happy feel good song with backup from the one and only Elton John. These three tracks show the great musical mind of John Lennon.
