I can recommend this album warmly. Although MJQ is not a group best known for their hot swinging (Milt Jackson did most of that in other arrangements), they are nothing if not rhythmically versatile. This brilliant reading of Ellington doesn't imitate his type of swing, but swings nevertheless, at the same time recreating the nobility that was always (or at least almost from the start) a key ingredient of Duke's lovely music. The album is a late example of beautiful MJQ work.
