For years the large number of fairly intact aircraft which survived the warin remote former battlegrounds in the Pacific have been the subeject of misleading stories and hearsay. Almost every effort to produce photographic evidence of such finds has been met with secrecy or a notable lack of co-operation. Charles Darby now rectifies this frustrating situation by presenting for the first time the results of his first-hand inspection of nearly 2,000 aircraft wrecks and crash sites over a period of some 15 years, together with the details of some of the many salvage operations in which he participated in. Published in 1979 this book still remains the bible for WW2 aircraft wrecks in the south west pacific. Vivid photographs and concise descriptions provide valuable information to wreck enthusiasts or people wishing to find information of the circumstances of relatives killed in WW2.
