If I had to pick out the best of Rod Stewart's early days--back when he was still a rocker, and not a dance or MOR artist--this album would almost entirely fill the bill. There are a few here I would have left out, and a few I would have included are missing. By and large, however, these are the best. Now, I've heard a lot of versions of quot;Maggie Mayquot;, but this one contains an intro I don't remember. And with quot;You Wear It Wellquot;, quot;(I Know) I'm Losing Youquot;, quot;Every Picture Tells A Storyquot;, and many others (including his version of the Paul McCartney tune quot;Mine For Mequot;, which seems strange), this should satisfy any fan of early Rod (hey, quot;All Right Nowquot;--not included--was Rod Stewart and the Faces). The SHM format just adds that extra fillip.
