Lars Belden is reading a newspaper obituary of Sela Huber, an ex-girlfriend, who left him. She was always an enigmatic person who never wanted to talk about her past.

Once he’s got over the terrible blow of seeing the sad news in the paper Lars decides he cannot leave things as they are. He needs an explanation and there are many questions still to be answered. During the 5 days it takes Helga, Sela’s best friend, to clear the flat, Lars finds out about Sela’s past and the reasons that led her to break off their relationship.

Lars Belden, vendedor de casas para gente adinerada, casado y con un hijo, ve cómo su vida se detiene ese día. Por casualidad lee en un periódico la noticia del suicidio de Sela Huber, su antigua novia.

La curiosidad y el amor que todavía siente por ella le arrastran a visitar el piso de Sela, del que aún conserva unas llaves. Allí descubrirá que el estudio, donde nunca dejaba entrar a nadie, está lleno de cintas. Lars se da cuenta de que ella grababa compulsivamente toda su vida. De una manera desordenada irá dando forma a todo el pasado de ella, de otras personas que se cruzaron en su vida y de él mismo. Todo esto, durante tres noches, le ayudará a entenderla a ella y a sí mismo y, lo más importante, por qué acabó su relación y por qué él dejó de escribir, su gran pasión.



Lars Belden apprend par le journal, le décès de Sela Huber. Elle a été autrefois son amie, puis elle l’a quitté. Toujours énigmatique, elle refusait d’évoquer son passé. Apprendre ce décès est un choc mais Lars veut en savoir plus… Il veut trouver des réponses à toutes les questions qu’il se posait au moment de sa relation avec Sela. Durant les cinq jours pendant lesquels Helga, la meilleure amie de Sela, va vider l’appartement de celle-ci, Lars découvre le passé de son amie et les raisons de leur rupture.
