One of the quot;Holy Grailsquot; of hardcore Steely Dan fans, this album was first broadcast on U.S. Public Radio on July 23, 2002. Almost every copy you find of this is a really bad MP3 version, and even the one lossless version out there is suspect--to get a lossless Japanese pressing is almost orgasmic for truefans. The conversation is interesting, but after a couple of listens becomes tedious. That leaves you with about half an hour of music, and in a very unusual format. Instead of the usual SD quot;cast of thousandsquot;, we have piano (of course), guitar, bass and drums. I think that's about as quot;unpluggedquot; as the Dan gets. As the album title states, these songs are decidedly jazzy, even the few pure Steely Dan tunes, and it works well (even though the vocals seem rather stiff).
