Based on Finnish mythology. In a scheme to get her hands on a magical mill known as a Sampo, evil witch Louhi (Anna Orochko) kidnaps the sister of woodsman Lemminkäinen (Andris Oshin). But when her plan is thwarted, the witch snatches the sun and leaves the earth covered in ice. Based on a Finnish myth, this adventure fantasy -- with its lavishly intricate plot -- was later lampooned by the jokesters at Mystery Science Theatre 3000.

Two legends, producer Roger Corman and director Francis Ford Coppola, took part in restoring this relatively unknown classic from the 1960s produced by American International Pictures.
