In 1973 following their move to RCA, the Kink's former US record company decided to release a Kinks compilation called The Great Lost Kinks Album, with 9 of the 14 tracks previously unreleased. This in turn became a rarity as Ray Davies objected to its release and it was withdrawn from the shelves after a couple of months. Although the tracks have been much booted, here is a high quality vinyl rip from the original album. The title alludes to "Four More Respected Gentlemen" a planned 1968 US only LP that was eventually cancelled in favour of The Village Green Preservation Society. Ironically only three of the tracks were due for release on that LP (see wiki for track listing), most were from the Village Green sessions, Davies initially planning that record to be a double album. Six of the unreleased tracks were eventually rereleased on the 2004 triple CD special edition of The Village Green Preservation Society and one on the BBC Sessions CD (some of the mixes are slightly different than what is on this album, keeping this LP version a rarity).Two - Till Death Us Do Part and Pictures In The Sand - remain unrereleased officially to this day.Original Releaser
