Coming Out was released by The Manhattan Transfer on August 19, 1976 on the Atlantic Records. It is the team's second album, succeeding their debut album The Manhattan Transfer, released the previous year

The Manhattan Transfer's second album, on the advice of their manager Aaron Russo, neglected the nostalgic tenor of the first album in favor of more contemporary songs, hoping to remove the nostalgia act reputation that they gained by release of their first album.
The song Chanson d'Amour was the team's introduction into Europe, as the song maintained the #1 spot in Great Britain for three weeks and was also at #1 in Paris. This success in Europe helped the group to gain a larger audience and more recognition in the United States.
The song Zindy Lou featured Ringo Starr and Jim Keltner on drums, Dr. John on piano and Doug Thorngren adding addition percussion.
The song Poinciana (The Song Of The Tree) featured a Michael Brecker solo. Info from Wikipedia
