Naval Fighters Series No 47
The Curtiss employees nicknamed the SO3C the 'Reluctant Dragon' (reluctant to take off and always dragging). It summed up its dismal operational life. It was under-powered, overweight and suffered from being rushed into service without adequate testing and re-engineering. It is incredible that over 700 of these aircraft could have been produced.
